Workers of textile factories in New York decided to organize a demonstration of protest for women's rights and wages and a reduction in working hours. It happened on March 8, 1957. Then there arose the first female's union, which proposed to celebrate the International Women's Day.

On March 8, 1908, a rally took place, in which over 50,000 women took part with slogans about gender equality and their right to vote.

She is known as a political figure who, for the first time at the international conference in Copenhagen, offered the idea of creating such a day as a manifestation of respect for the problems of women in the world. Later such tradition was supported by Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the United States.

According to the ancient stories, if you don’t decorate the doll on this day, the daughter will not find her couple. And the Japanese feminine are honored not on March 8, but on March 3.

In India, this holiday lasts for about 10 days and is named after the ten-handed goddess Durga Puja.
