This didukh is made of straw. Didukh is not just a nice decoration for home, they have a long and interesting history. As didukh was considered a sheaf of hay, which was first brought in the house on Christmas Eve. Only the father and the oldest son could bring the didukh in. It was put in the icon corner, this is a sacred place in the house where the icons and the Bible are. Before it, the didukh was woven of the last ears, which remained after the harvest. It was a sacrifice of the best grain in the agricultural cultures. The rite of didukh formation stretches from the time of paganism, but over time it became a symbol of Christianity. Didukh was equated to the holy things, it had to stand in the house until the end of winter and on the arrival of the heat, it was burned.
